We love WordPress…at least now we do. Years ago, WordPress was a clunky, nearly-unusable platform that required advanced technical expertise to produce lackluster results. Business owners shuddered at the name “WordPress.” Now, WordPress has become the most flexible and scalable solution for most businesses.
WordPress is a free platform that makes up 39% of all the websites on the internet. That’s a pretty amazing number considering the closest competition is Joomla (2.6%), Drupal (1.7%), Squarespace (1.5%), and Wix (1.3%).
But WordPress hasn’t always been such a great choice for creating and managing a website. For years and years, WordPress earned the reputation of being difficult to learn, and maintaining a WordPress website was cumbersome. That’s why Agile has historically favored platforms like Squarespace, Shopify, and Magento. But WordPress continued to innovate in the background, and article after article detailed the vast improvements of the WordPress platform. The new WordPress finally launched in 2018, and we went to work testing every single aspect of the new version.
